Add the room you actually need without moving house.

Room Additions & Home Additions in the Central Valley

The Central Valley is full of houses that are in the right place but a room short — a 1,300-square-foot ranch in southeast Fresno with a growing family in it, a Clovis tract home that needs a real primary suite, a Visalia bungalow whose only bathroom is off the hallway. An addition is usually the cheaper answer than moving, and it is the work we do most of: framing new square footage onto an existing house so the roofline, siding and floor level read as one building rather than two.

Completed addition-style structure with white lap siding, boxed eaves and a covered porch carried on a natural wood post.

What this covers

The Central Valley is full of houses that are in the right place but a room short — a 1,300-square-foot ranch in southeast Fresno with a growing family in it, a Clovis tract home that needs a real primary suite, a Visalia bungalow whose only bathroom is off the hallway. An addition is usually the cheaper answer than moving, and it is the work we do most of: framing new square footage onto an existing house so the roofline, siding and floor level read as one building rather than two.

Additions live or die on the connection between old and new. We open the existing wall properly, carry the loads where they need to go, match the roof pitch and the eave detail, and blend siding and flooring so the seam does not announce itself. Sequoia Builders & Remodel is licensed by the CSLB (#1160042) and estimates are free — we will come out, measure, and tell you what is realistic on your lot and your setbacks.

Process

How We Build an Addition

  1. 01

    Measure and check what's possible

We look at the footprint, the setbacks, the roof, the panel and the existing slab or foundation, and tell you honestly what will fit and what it will take.

  2. 02

    Plans and permit

Additions need drawings and a permit. We help get a permit-ready set together and handle the submittal and inspections.

  3. 03

    Foundation, framing and tie-in

New footing or slab, framing to match, roof tied into the existing structure, and the wall opened up once the new space is dried in — so you keep living in the house.

  4. 04

    Finish to match

Siding, roofing, flooring, doors, trim and paint carried across the join so the addition looks original to the house.
